One of Tasmania’s last kerosene lighthouse keepers, John Cook, has written a beautiful memoir about his 26 years tending Tasmania’s kerosene ‘lights’.

As one of Australia’s longest-serving lighthouse keepers, John tended the flames at Tasman Island, Maatsuyker Island and Bruny Island.

Known as ‘The Keeper of the Flame’ in Tasmania, John talked with Harvey about what life was like in the lighthouses.
