Tourism Council wants backpacker visas extended
The state’s Tourism Council is calling on the Federal Government to extend the visas of backpackers still in Australia by up to 12 months to address a shortage of seasonal work in regional WA.
Tourism Council WA chief Evan Hall told Gareth Parker on Mornings he’s worried backpackers will leave for other states, and will then be refused entry back into WA.
He says that will create a shortfall in a number of regional areas.
