Train station name still up in the air

Following on from a call to Perth LIVE yesterday from Susan, Transport Minister Rita Saffioti joined Oly to address Susan’s concern with the reduction in parking at Thornlie train station.

“There will be some adjustments to the parking bays at Thornlie, mainly because of the works that need to be undertaken to get the rail line from Thornlie out to Cockburn.

“Up to 50 bays will be removed, about 11 percent. But 1000 car bars will be built about a kilometre away.”

Minister Saffioti also gave an update on the progress of “Forrestfield Station” telling Oly it’s over 50 per cent complete with tunnel boring machines continue to head towards the Swan River.

She also added that the local council is looking at whether a name change is required for the station.
