UWA Professor Says Increasing The Crayfish Quota Is Irresponsible
The media has been awash with criticism of the Fisheries Minister’s proposal to increase commercial crayfish quotas from 6,300 tonnes to 8,000 tonnes. The industry says that the fishery is not healthy enough to increase the quota and it will destroy their livelihoods.
Today Karl O’Callaghan spoke to UWA Centre for Marine Futures Director, Professor Jessica Meeuwig about the health of the Western Rock Lobster fishery and the potential impact of an increased quota.
