New Chief Economist at the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the state’s economy is trapped in a “survival mode” – where businesses are hesitant to invest and take risks.

Aaron Morey previously worked for the Productivity Commission and the office of state treasurer Ben Wyatt .

He joined Gareth Parker in the 6PR studio for his first radio interview and told him wants to create an environment where local business can flourish.

“If you improve the environment for local business then you improve the improve prosperity for Western Australian and I want my kids to grow up in a place where they don’t have to move away  for job opportunities, where they don’t have to move away for social and cultural opportunities.”
