WA Health Department to start escalating plans

Health Minister Roger Cook joined Gareth Parker to explain the State Government’s plans after yesterday’s news of 17 new positive COVID-19 cases which indicate community spread has started.

“What we’re seeing from yesterday’s numbers is an increasing likelihood that we are tipping into the community transmission phase.

I signalled yesterday that now the health department will start to re-position itself, escalate some of its plans and basically prepare for the next phase of this epidemic.”

Minister Cook reassures listeners there is enough test kits for West Australians.

“There is a new generation of testing kits entering the market now.”
