WA Treasurer Ben Wyatt quits politics

Treasurer Ben Wyatt has announced he’s bowing out of politics.

He’ll continue in his role until next year’s state election… but has confirmed he will not be re-contesting his seat of Victoria Park.

He’s cited a personal health issue for the decision.

Mr Wyatt has been in WA parliament for 15 years — since winning a by-election in 2006, following the resignation of former premier Geoff Gallop.

Nine News Perth Political Reporter Gary Adshead told Gareth Parker on Mornings that Mr Wyatt’s resignation is a loss for the State Government.
