Why doesn’t WA have a COVID select committee?
The Opposition has defended its decision not to form a select committee to look at the State Government’s COVID response – to avoid being accused of politicking.
Select committees have been established in other jurisdictions in the country – forcing senior politicians and authorities to provide evidence at public hearings to back up key decisions made during the state of emergency.
Liza Harvey told Gareth Parking on Mornings it was considered – but at the time WA was dealing with the cruise ship crisis.
She says she doesn’t believe the community wants to see the Opposition arguing with the Government over coronavirus.
