Third year apprentice Leon Sims has won the National Apprentice Butcher Award at the World Butchers’ Challenge National Titles held at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in April.

Leon works in the family business at Rare Fusion Gourmet Butchery in Garden City under the guidance of his father Graeme Sims.

Along with four others, Leon will now represent Australia in the World Butchers’ Challenge to be held in Sacramento USA in August 2020.

Graeme and Leon joined Oliver Peterson to talk about the win and the importance of people supporting their local butcher.

The Sims family are fundraising to help cover the costs to send Leon to the competition.
