Police ethics put to question over taser use on elderly
New South Wale’s Police Commissioner Karen Webb’s decision to not view the bodycam footage taken when 95-year-old Claire Nowland was tasered by police has been met by vehement criticism.
Gary Adshead talked to former Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan on 6PR Mornings about the adoption of Tasers by police forces around the country.
“We were on high alert when we first introduced Tasers in WA,” Doctor O’Callaghan said.
“We never anticipated that they would be used on elderly citizens.”
