Port Hedland resident Arnold Carter is currently preparing for the landfall of Cyclone Ilsa, and despite being 96 years-old, he’s probably more prepared than anyone.

Mr Carter has survived 27 cyclones during his life so far, and his past experience has made him pretty knowledgeable on what to expect.

He talked to Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings and said having made his way through so many cyclones has not made him complacent; in fact, he is as prepared as anyone.

“Right from the word go – from the time they become a projection to the time they finish –  I make sure the house is prepared; I follow the Met Bureau, and I try to follow the instructions as much as I can,” Mr Carter said.
