Ute, SUV prices could skyrocket under Government’s fuel efficiency plans
Ute and SUV owners could be in for a shock, with prices of popular models estimated to increase by as much as $13,000 under a federal government proposal.
The Australian Government’s new fuel quality and noxious emission standards is aiming to increase fuel-efficient vehicles and lower greenhouse gas outputs from road users.
Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries chief executive, Tony Weber, joined Oliver Peterson on Perth Live to discuss the potential cost impacts of the new emission standards.
“If you are buying an SUV next year, or a ute, and it doesn’t hit the target, you are going to be in front of a penalty of a substantial magnitude,” Mr. Weber said.
