For the first time since 1953, the ‘Devil Comet’ will be visible in Australia for the next week before disappearing from our skies for another 71 years.

Gravity Discovery Centre Observatory Chief Astronomer Rick Tonello told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that comets are big dusty snowballs in space.

“We’ve actually got a chance in the next couple nights, probably from the 21st to about the end of the month we should be in a pretty good position to see this thing.”

“The best thing to do is to go outside and look out towards the west, where the sun has set. A good place to go is the beach, don’t go right on the beach but up on the road, around Sorrento,” Mr Tonello said.
