Consumer Protection have begun the process to implement stronger regulations for the tow truck industry.

A consultation paper for the community and industry has been released today — one suggestion is criminal checks for those looking to enter the industry, to weed out dodgy operators.

Commissioner for Consumer Protection Lanie Chopping told Gareth Parker on Mornings one major issue they’re wanting to eradicate is drivers involved in accidents who become victims of “car-napping.”
