An intense low-pressure weather system off WA’s North West is expected to develop into one of the strongest cyclones to ever cross the WA coast.

Cyclone Ilsa – now northeast of Broome – is potentially headed to populated areas where emergency services are warning it could cause intense damage.

DFES Commissioner Darren Klemm told Gary Adshead onĀ 6PR Mornings winds up to 200 kilometres an hour could be expected.

“There is likely to be significant damage where there is structures including homes,” Mr Klemm said.
