RESTRICTIONS EASED: Police Commissioner details enforcement of new regulations
Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has reinforced the message that patrons and venue owners have a “shared obligation” when it comes to maintaining safety at venues that are subject to health restrictions.
People wanting to access high risk venues will have to download their vaccine certificate to their phone, or have it printed it out, and then show personal identification such as a drivers licence before being granted entry.
However, the Commissioner added that WA residents will soon be able to have their certificate linked to a state based app.
“The government have been working on this with the Commonwealth,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.
“They can’t do it independently of the Commonwealth, so the Commonwealth have a queue for their apps and things like that under Services Australia.
“So that is going to be rolled out next week.”
It comes as the state eased restrictions from 6am on Tuesday, with the following activities resuming:
- Standing consumption of food and drink
- Dancing
- Music festivals
- Major events
- Nightclubs
Mask wearing will remain mandatory in:
- All indoor public venues
- On public transport, taxis and rideshare services
- Major outdoor events and outdoor music festivals
Proof of vaccination will also now be required in the following venues:
- Nightclubs
- Music festivals and major events (above 500 people)
- Pubs, taverns, hotels (hospitality) and Special Facility Licenses with a capacity of more than 500 people or these specific licensed venues that trade after midnight
- Events with an Occasional Liquor Licence
- The Crown gaming floor
