Deputy Premier Roger Cook has put his hand up for WA’s top job, saying he’s the right person to lead WA to the next election.

Mr Cook told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings he was the most experienced and capable WA Labor member tipped for the role.

“This is obviously a crucial week, but we’re all going to have quiet, respectful conversations about who we think is the best person to lead the party forward,” Mr Cook said.

“I believe I’m the best person for that job; I’ve got the runs on the board, I’m delivering in relation to my economic portfolio and I’ve acted in the role of premier on many occasions.”

“If there is one thing that being the Member for Kwinana has taught me, it is that a strong economy needs to deliver for everybody,” Mr Cook said in a statement.

“As a born and bred Western Australian, I will always champion our State and all of the communities that make it the best place to live in Australia at every opportunity.”

“I will be putting myself forward to be the next Premier of Western Australia.”
