Roger Federer announces his retirement from tennis
Tennis great Roger Federer has announced he’s retiring from professional tennis.
The 41-year-old has won 20 grand slam titles in his 24-year career.
In a statement announcing his retirement on social media, Federer said “I must recognise when it is time to end my competitive career”.
Federer’s last professional tennis match will be at the Laver Cup in London later this month.
Paddy Sweeney spoke about The GOAT’s legendary career during Sport on 6PR Breakfast.
“World number 1 for 237 consecutive weeks,” he told Gareth.
“That’s four and half years that there was no one else anywhere near him.”
