Rolling Stone Australia have revealed their top 200 Australian albums of all time, with iconic rock album Back in Black by AC/DC ranked number one.
The 1980 album is the second highest selling record of all time, with 50 million copies sold worldwide.
It was followed by Michael Hutchence’s INXS and their 1987 album Kick, with Whispering Jack by John Farnham rounding out the top three.
Rolling Stone Australia Editor Tyler Jenke said the magazine sough input from a lot of people within the industry.
“We basically had about 800 folks putting in their opinions and saying what they reckon the greatest Australian albums are,” he said on 6PR Breakfast.
“And from there, it was one of those things where we had a massive job set for ourselves, huge long-list then chiseled down.
“Then we had to really start looking at the metric of our albums, both local and international influence … it was a tough job to say the least.”
