One of the more positive community events of the Christmas season has sadly faced the chop, with WA’s RSLs unable to afford providing gifts for struggling veterans.

The unfortunate decision has been made with shock and outrage by long-time RSL members, yet the organisation says it has become more and more difficult to support veterans while keeping their doors open.

RSLWA President Duncan Anderson told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the pressure on RSLs across the state, as well as the organization itself, is being felt acutely.

“We’ve got just over 62 000 veterans in this state, and that’s really where our focus is: making sure we ourselves are around for the next hundred years to support those veterans.
