RUMOUR FILE: Queensland Police’s Tracy Linford tipped to be WA’s new top cop
It’s very rare for The John Hughes Rumour File to receive a tip-off in the middle of the night, but that’s exactly what happened in the early hours of this morning.
‘The Old Bill’ contacted the program at 3am with a rumour the new WA Police Commissioner will be announced at 11am this morning, and that it will be Tracy Linford APM, who hails from Queensland Police.
There were three people in the running to replace current outgoing Commissioner Chris Dawson (including his current deputy Col Blanch).
Police Minister Paul Papalia has just issued a media alert for 11am on Tuesday at Dumas House to make “a significant announcement”.
Our money is it being the outsider, Ms Linford, who has worked in both Victorian and Queensland police.
‘Mr Plod’ also called the Rumour File to confirm Ms Linford as WA’s new top cop.
“Apparently her house was put for sale last Friday and the DP is on the move to Perth,” he told Gareth Parker.
