Rural doctor feels $800 million RFDS contract funds could be better spent elsewhere
Dr Michael Livingston from Livingston Medical joined Julie-Anne Sprague to discuss how he feels that the Government’s commitment to sign a new 10-year contract with the Royal Flying Doctor Service worth more than $800 million is an enormous amount of money that could be spent to benefit rural doctors directly instead.
He feels that the funds could be better used to support rural clinics, lessen the need for patient transfers and retrievals, and better support the rural community in having standalone resources.
