Dockers defender Luke Ryan has thrown his support behind Alex Pearce, following calls for the 28-year-old to step down as captain.

Ryan told Adam Paplia on Wide World of Sports the embattled skipper has the full support of the playing group.

“I feel sorry for him he’s coping it, but he’s only copping it cause he’s captain,” Ryan said.

“We voted him captain for a reason and he’ll be our captain next year hopefully, and I’ve got full trust in him.”
