Jurien Bay locals are raising concerns about a huge build-up of seaweed in the marina, which has seen the Marine Rescue vessel become stuck more than once.
Michael Cockburn from Jurien Bay Marine Rescue told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that luckily it was not a rescue and rather a sweep of the area, however it poses danger for future rescues.
“It could be a significant 20 minute delay when you’re trying to take weed off your engines and props, it can have a big impact on the search time to find someone,” he told Oly.
“It does happen every year, a couple times a year and it just seems to be getting worse.”
