Matildas captain Sam Kerr has been charged over alleged racially aggravated harassment of a police officer in London early last year.

The alleged incident occurred in London’s south-west on January 30, with a trial set for early next year.

Long-standing soccer commentator Craig Foster told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings despite Kerr’s profile, no-one should escape scrutiny for such events in her position of celebrity.

“It’s important to keep in mind she’s not guilty of anything until whatever results form the court case… but it’s a very serious issue in culture and in sport, and it needs to be dealt with,” Mr Foster said.
