Scott Morrison’s surprising election message for WA
Scott Morrison has appealed to Western Australian voters to consider the credentials of only Federal party leaders when the next election rolls around in a few months.
“The other thing that’s going to happen on the other side of the election, whichever way you’re voting, Mark McGowan is the premier the next day,” he told Gareth Parker in a wide-ranging interview on 6PR Breakfast.
“It’s not a state election, it’s a federal election, it’s about who do you want to be Prime Minister.
“It’s not a contest between Mark and I, any more than it’s a contest between me and any other premier.”
Mr McGowan has enjoyed record approval ratings among state premiers during the two-year pandemic.
The Federal election with respected party leaders between Mr Morrison and Federal Labor’s Anthony Albanese is expected to be a tight affair.
