Shameful “rubber necking” damned in rescue service’s plea
A post by a volunteer fire service south of Perth has raised the question: what is appropriate for the public during emergencies?
A post made by the Falcon Volunteer Fire and Rescue in the wake of a serious incident south of Mandurah has raised ire over people filing and taking photos of emergency incidents, potentially violating victim’s privacy and in worst cases causing obstructions to rescue.
Head of St John’s Metro Ambulance Operations Joe Moore told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast people “distracting” emergency service workers does happen on occasion.
“I would like to echo the call of the Falcon fireys and plead for people not to stop and watch traumatic incidents as they’re unfolding,” Mr Moore said.
