State government backs big changes in war on e-waste

Proposed plans to ban electronic waste from landfill have entered a consultation phase, with the public able to have their say on regulations until November.

Items including mobile phones, TVs and computers are all included in the first phase of bans, which come into effect from next year.

But the focus has turned to small appliances like toasters, kettles and vacuums so families can get involved in reducing household waste.

6PR reporter Jessica Shackleton told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings it will be a similar process to the plastics ban.
