A protest has just begun at Curtin University to kick off an encampment and will call on the university to drop all ties to Israel.

Several Gaza solidarity encampments have popped up across the country outside of universities, starting with the University of Sydney and Melbourne last week.

Students for Palestine member Erin Russell told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live they plan to stay for a least a week with a peaceful but confrontational force, refusing to sit back and watch.

“We want Palestinians and especially the people of Gaza to know that people all over the world are horrified by the genocide that’s happening and we stand in absolute solidarity with them,” Russell said.
