A new study has found digital health tools like apps can help keep us active, boost our steps and improve our diet and sleep.

University of South Australia researchers found health tools including apps, websites and texts messages helped people achieve 1329 more steps a day, lose 1.9 kilograms of weight over 12 weeks and improve sleep quality.

“There are so many apps out there but the ones that are designed to improve our exercise, get us exercising more, going to the gym and running, the evidence shows they tend to be more effective,” UniSA’s lead researcher Dr Ben Singh told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead.
