A WA truck driver for one of Australia’s biggest transport companies in Australia has revealed to Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast distribution centres would start running out of stock for WA supermarkets by Friday.

Caller Eddie said three semi-trailers from his company were delivering their last supplies to IGA today, with one delivery for Woolworths this afternoon.

“The state government is missing in action, the TWU (Transport Workers Union) is another one, haven’t heard a peep out of them,” he said.

“I’ve been in this game 30 years now, never seen it like this.

“There’s no freight coming into WA – we have one road train coming in on Friday, maybe.”

WA’s COVID restrictions were keeping eastern states truckies away, while the flooded freight rail from South Australia to WA was exacerbating the issue
