The future of regional landlines is up in the air, with the Government opening consultation with the telecommunications industry over the future of the universal service obligation (USO), currently delivered by Telstra.

CEO of the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network Andrew Williams told Oly Peterson on 6PR’s Perth Live the USO is a longstanding safeguard that ensures all Australians can access fixed phone services and payphones from wherever they live.
