The 20-year-old Asbestos campaigner inspired by her family to raise awareness
It’s a disease that, on average, kills one person every 12 hours from this terminal cancer.
Mackenzie Lighton is an Asbestos campaigner after losing her grandmother, grandfather, uncle and soon her mother to mesothelioma.
Mackenzie’s mother spent two years in Wittenoom as a toddler with the rest of her family.
The 20-year-old told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings that you have to be grateful for the time that you have got.
“I don’t think I’d be able to get through it if it wasn’t for mum to be honest,” she said.
“Any donations count, even reading the story and understanding the dangers of Asbestos is my goal.”

One in three homes still contain asbestos and 4,000 Australian’s die every year from asbestos – nearly three times the road toll.
