The Aussie leaders lining up to leave for the Coronation junket
Former Governor-General Peter Cosgrove will be made Administrator for the whole country when David Hurley and all other state Governors make their way to the UK for the King’s Coronation next week.
It’s an unprecedented move that has required permission from both the Prime Minister and King Charles himself.
Constitutional Law expert Professor Anne Twomey told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the coronation is a first in 70 years, and General Cosgrove was likely seen as an able hand during the trip.
“There needs to be some kind of chain of authority to flow through.. traditionally that’s the most senior State Governor, but since everyone’s leaving for the coronation, they’ve made the quite sensible decision to put in a former Governor General,” Professor Twomey said.
