The bizarre story behind a car that plunged into a Thornlie pool

A quirky rescue in Perth’s south occurred last night after a woman’s car smashed through a front yard fence and plunged into a swimming pool.

Emergency services were called to the Thornlie home before 7pm last night.

Neighbours from across the road heard the loud noise and jumped into the pool to save the driver. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.

Dennis, the tow truck driver from Apex Towing, told 6PR Breakfast that it was “pretty lucky” that they were able to retrieve the car from the pool.

“One of our team members there, Crocky, he gave me a hand. We worked as a team. I went swimming. Put the hooks on the car, and we pulled it out of the pool,” he said.

“Cars don’t like swimming. They don’t have floaties, so they don’t like it.”

Tap PLAY to hear the hilarious story of how the towies saved the underwater car.
