The Hiroshima bombing happened on this day, August 6, in 1945. 400m’s from the epicentre of the blast a Ginkgo Biloba tree somehow survived! Its seeds was captured and distributed around the world to provide a message of world peace and one of those seeds, now a small plant, has been planted at Sir James Park in South Perth!

John Murray is the Nursery Supervisor for the City of South Perth and has nurtured the Ginkgo Bilboa and was on hand to plant the tree at a special ceremony today! John took the time out of his schedule to join Simon on theĀ  Afternoons program
