School principals are hoping to gain the power to use “the full letter of the law” to stop the rapidly-growing levels of violence from students, parents and intruders.

The State School Teachers Union are now warning the Cook Government they need to quickly ramp up protections for staff and students if they don’t want to see the school system fall apart.

SSTU President Matt Jarman told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast current court orders and police reports on frequently aggressive offenders are doing little to prevent on-campus violence.

“It’s the number two reason we’re losing teachers and school leaders at such an alarming rate after overwork,”

Former teacher Claire rang into 6PR Breakfast to share her tragic story as she faces ongoing loss of feeling and mobility after being attacked at school.

“I was a high school teacher, it was my passion,” Claire said.

“I was one of those lucky people who loved getting up and going to work every day.”

That was until a student attacked her and broke to of her vertebrae.

“I’m now paralyzed in one arm and I’m losing the ability to speak,” she said.
