The jaw-dropping price of Australia’s first hydrogen-powered ute
Australia’s first hydrogen ute will be launched later this year at a cost of around $200,000.
Developed by Sydney-based H2X Global, the company will partner with engineering firms to retrofit Ford Rangers with hydrogen fuel cells.
The company say they have already taken 200 pre-orders in the first four days of the ute being up for sale.
Global Vice President H2X Tony Blackie says the concept has “taken off”.
“Everyone decided (it’s) exactly what they needed, and orders started coming through,” he told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
“At the moment we don’t have hydrogen bowsers all around the country, so it’s really going to be for organisations that have their own supply of hydrogen.
“But as time goes on hydrogen is going to be much more prevalent and there will be lots of others who want to buy in as well.
