State Liberal leader Libby Mettam has acknowledged Mark McGowan’s resignation from the role of Premier is a “significant boost” to her party’s chances at the next state election.

Ms Mettam told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the options for who could replace him from WA Labor will be “a decision of the elected union power-brokers”.

“We either have a failing health minister in Amber-Jade Sanderson, a failed health minister in Roger Cook or a failing transport minister who hasn’t delivered in their signature project,” Ms Mettam said.

“The Premier didn;t feel there was anyone else that he could trust with that Treasury portfolio.”
