It’s taken university research to work out what we all already know: self-serve checkouts don’t work.
Last year studies found that the grand experiment in self-service had failed in the US, and now we’re starting to see the same statistics here.
Associate Professor and Chair of Sociology at Drew University Christopher Andrews told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast supermarket chains hoping to cut labor costs have found themselves spending more.
“What has been sold as a faster and more convenient way to shop is actually more of a hassle,” Mr Andrews said.
