‘The tackle is dead’: Mundy, Langdon weigh in on AFL’s harsh penalties
Fremantle legend David Mundy has made a bold statement about the future of the tackle in our game.
“The tackle is dead. It’s done. Give up on it, it’s over,” the Dockers game record-holder said.
“If you tackle someone and take them to ground, that’ll be a free kick soon.”
Karl Langdon said on 6PR Breakfast it’s an issue they had been dealing with all season, and that tackling has become too much of a risk.

Speaking during his regular spot on Wide World of Sports during Monday’s program, Mundy responded resoundingly to the AFL’s decision to send Britney Gutknecht straight to the tribunal, facing a minimum three-match suspension.
Gutknecht chased down Swan Paige Sheppard brilliantly, even earning a free kick for holding the ball.
However, Sheppard suffered a concussion from the incident resulting in Gutknecht facing a heavy sanction from the tribunal.
