Western Australian football fans will need to keep Sunday afternoon free in the final rounds of the regular season.

The AFL released rounds 16 to 23 with both WA teams missing out on prime time slots in the last three rounds.

6PR Football Commentator Adam Papalia told 6PR Afternoons Ian Blackley the AFL floats the fixtures to cherry pick who plays when and where.

“They can then fixture the teams that are playing well in the prime time slots and the ones that aren’t going so well in the other slots,” Mr Papalia said.

“The next month or so there’s quite a few Saturday nights but in this last stretch of fixtures just released it’s almost exclusively Sunday games”.
