The Australian Information Commission will be investigating Tik Tok over concerns of how it handles individual’s private information and data.

Chair of the Australian Privacy Foundation, David Valle, says many social media providers want users to be resigned over how they handle data.

“In reality, a lot of them, especially when they’re faced with a big stick from regulators and investigations and fines … do actually pull back,” he told 6PR Mornings.

He also says with the growth of artificial intelligence, more risks appear.

“Whatever they knew about you before might have been used in one way, the risk is it’s going to be much more intrusive,” he said.
