Tim Paine takes indefinite leave of absence from all forms of cricket
Cricket Tasmania have released a statement announcing former Test cricket captain Tim Paine will leave cricket “for the foreseeable future”.
Paine resigned from the leadership of the Australian team after it was revealed he had sent explicit text messages to a former Cricket Tasmania employee.
The statement confirms Charlie Wakim will take his place in today’s Marsh One-Day Cup match against Western Australia.
Paine’s decision puts him in further doubt to appear for the Ashes series early next month.
His manager confirmed the statement saying he’s “extremely concerned for his and (wife) Bonnie’s well-being”
Confirming that @tdpaine36 is stepping away from cricket for an indefinite mental health break. We are extremely concerned for his and Bonnie’s well-being and will be making no further comment at this time.
