Tiny houses are emerging as a possible solution to Australia’s housing crisis and stunning Esperance, located eight hours east of Perth, has become the first council nationwide to recognise tiny houses as permanent dwellings.

Esperance Shire President Ron Chambers told Russell Collett on 6PR Afternoons the decision to recognise portable dwellings as permanent is an important step.

“We looked at this as one of the solutions, we have a major housing problem pretty much like everyone else around and being isolated we have a limited number of builders so this looked like a good opportunity and a good idea to try and alleviate some of that issue.
