Toodyay farmer flabbergasted after being found guilty of breaking WA’s Aboriginal heritage laws

A Toodyay farmer who was found guilty of breaching the state’s Aboriginal Heritage Act when he built a bridge on his land is devastated at the court’s decision.
Tony Maddox explained to Perth Today‘s Simon Beaumont how he was trying to rejuvenate the creek and was completely unaware that the work he was doing would be an issue.
“To be fined for something you have no knowledge about, I was more than devastated yesterday. I was flabbergasted that our society has got to this stage,” he said.
