TRAFFIC CHAOS: Motorists urged to avoid Tonkin Hwy after truck v bridge crash
Motorists are being warned to keep avoiding Tonkin Highway this morning as traffic chaos builds after a truck crashed into a bridge early this morning.
Traffic has banked up for kilometres as Main Roads tries to clear the site.
Director for Metropolitan Operations at Main Roads Peter Sewell told Gareth Parker the trailer has been written off and has caused damage to the road which is expected to take another few hours to clear.
“His axles are still live all over the road,” he said.
“It needs a police escort to remove the vehicle because it’s so big.
“Northbound traffic is still heavy because people are rubbernecking a fair bit.”
