Truck driver strike: Thousands of workers walk off the job
Thousands of truck drivers across the country with Toll Group are on strike over pay and work conditions.
Urgent talks over a new enterprise bargaining agreement have broken down, and the Transport Workers Union is concerned proposed changes would allow Toll to hire contractors on lower wages.
Transport Workers Union state secretary Tim Dawson said parcel and grocery deliveries could be affected.
“There will be disruptions, there is no doubt about that,” he told Gareth Parker
“But sometimes workers have got to do, what workers have got to do.
“It’s mainly about job security, the attack on workers job security and their wages and conditions.”
Hundreds of WA workers plan to rally in Kewdale today.
