A 45-page document frames the third indictment made against Donald Trump, with the new charges alleging he had a big hand in the January 6 insurrection.

It also alleges  Trump also “pursued unlawful means of discounting legitimate votes and subverting the election results”, perpretrating “three criminal conspiracies” in the process.

Nine News US correspondent Lauren Tomasi told Karl and Gena on 6PR Breakfast the indictment claims he was determined to remain in power by spreading lies.

“Going forward this now means he will be put on trial for his alleged attempts to destroy the democratic system,” Ms Tomasi said.
