An effort on behalf of Australia’s defense forces to make their language as inclusive as possible is being deemed a welcome progressive step or pointless virtue-signalling, depending on who you ask.

Documents retrieved via a Freedom of Information Request show the ADF is attempting to clean up common terms like “unmanned aerial vehicle” and “man-hours” in order to provide safer spaces for all.

Shadow Defense Minister Andrew Hastie told Gary Adshead on 6PR MorningsĀ he believes the move belies the fact the military is making other, common-sense decision.

“Your listeners carry a pretty straight up-and-down common sense, I don’t think people are getting offended by those terms unless they’re looking to be offended,” Mr Hastie said.
